New appointment at Centrus supports expansion of Residential business

Centrus today announces the appointment of Jonathan Clarke. Mr Clarke joins Centrus as a Partner from M&G Real Estate where he was involved in structuring property transactions for pension fund investors.

Before moving to M&G, Mr Clarke was Corporate Finance Director at Genesis Housing Association where his responsibilities included treasury and financial strategy with a particular focus on growth and development, including financial planning for key regeneration projects. He is a chartered accountant and corporate treasurer and previously worked in the housing finance team at PwC.

Commenting on today’s appointment, Centrus Partner Phil Jenkins said: “We have a huge regard for Jonathan having worked with him during his time at Genesis. He brings a wealth of knowledge and transactional experience which will enhance the strategic and corporate finance advice that we can offer to our many clients in the Residential sector. In addition, his experience from having worked both on the investor side and in a senior finance role within a housing association will offer Centrus clients unique insight as they plan their financing strategies in order to achieve their development aspirations.”

Jonathan Clarke’s appointment comes as Centrus expands its successful advisory offering to the Residential sector in the UK. Since the business was established in June 2012, Centrus has rapidly established itself as a leading financial advisor to the Residential, Infrastructure and Project Finance sectors. Recent Centrus mandates in the Residential sector include;

  • Advising on the largest single investment by an institutional investor in the housing association sector – a £252m transaction between Legal and General Investment Management and Places for People Group;
  • Advising on circa £1.5bn of institutional financing for housing associations across public bonds, private placements and lease transactions;
  • Advising on renegotiation of banking facilities with a notional value of £3.4bn;
  • Structuring and advising on several highly complex derivative restructurings; and
  • Advising Genesis HA on the £125m sale of the Stratford Halo scheme to M&G Real Estate.
