Centrus MD appointed to welsh government affordable housing independent panel
Phil Jenkins has accepted an invitation from the Welsh Minister for Housing and Regeneration
In April this year, the Welsh Minister for Housing and Regeneration Rebecca Evans announced a review of affordable housing supply and, to ensure that the review is fair, transparent and robust, the Minister is establishing and independent panel to oversee this work.
Commenting on his appointment, Phil Jenkins said Given our position as a leading corporate finance advisor to the affordable housing sector in Wales, I am pleased to accept the Minister’s invitation. Affordable housing supply is a challenge for Wales and it is positive to see Welsh Government taking a lead in identifying new and innovative solutions to address this issue in a Welsh context. Centrus has been and remains at the forefront of financing innovation in the affordable housing sector and I look forward to contributing to this process.
Following the establishment of the panel, the Minister commented that: I am pleased that we have been able to assemble a panel which offers such a strong cross-section of skills and expertise across the breath of the areas being considered by the review. The members bring real insight into housing supply issues and solutions both in Wales and other parts of the UK. The panel also offers a deep understanding of the impact the housing sector has on the wider Welsh economy and of innovative methods of achieving even greater impact. The review will also involve extensive engagement with all of the organisations currently involved in the delivery of affordable housing and I look forward to the debate which I hope will now surround this work.
