Our updates and announcements

Centrus is now a proud affiliate of ARCO

Centrus has recently joined ARCO as an affiliate member. The Associated Retirement Community Operators (ARCO) is the main body representing the Retirement Community sector in the UK, formed in 2012. Members are over 100 organisations that believe long-lasting partnerships and commitments are at the heart of solving the challenge of meeting the housing, care, and support needs of our ageing population.

Centrus has built a reputation supporting  it’s not-for-profit clients securing funding who are members of ARCO and through becoming a member is looking to see how our expertise can help both not-for-profit and private operators meet this real and growing demand.

Accordingly to recent report by Knight Franck*, there are currently 9.9 million people in England (and 11.8 million in the UK overall) over the age of 65. This number is forecast to rise by 20% over the next decade. The number of people aged 90 or over is set to almost double in the next 10 years. The UK’s population is ageing at a faster rate than ever before which is driving  an increasing demand for retirement housing both for sale and for rent with supply at present falling way behind what is comparable in other parts of the world.

The Retirement Housing sector (from age-restricted over-55 housing to housing with care*), currently comprises 725,000 homes, which equates to c.2.6% of the total housing stock in the UK. This highlights the gap between current supply and projected demand for retirement housing in the UK.

These are some examples of the successful transactions Centrus recently advised members of ARCO on:

Centrus advises A2Dominion on successful £50m capital raising

Centrus advises One Housing in raising £150m, establishing 3 new banking relationships

Centrus advises Housing & Care 21 on successful sterling bond debut

Please contact Tony Oakley if you’d like to learn more about our activities within the sector.
